Some Bathroom Remodeling Ideas

August 20th, 2010 Michael James No comments

So, you have decided to remodel your bathroom, you have some bathroom remodeling ideas now and you are looking for that perfect bathroom design. You know the one you are looking for. It has got to be just right for you and it has to weather the years with grace. The colours must not clash, and you should be able to stand the sight of it day after day from when you finish it for many years to come.

The perfect bathroom design should include every new bathroom gadget known to man and you should still have enough room to move around without hitting your head or your elbow on a protruding edge. Your perfect bathroom design should also pass the test of time, still looking as charming as it did when you first did it up. Its not too much to ask really, only a minor miracle on the scale of turning water into wine.

OK, let’s be honest about it, they are the kind of bathroom remodeling ideas that everyone is looking for, but which no one has yet found. Or at least not to their full satisfaction. Therefore, there is really only one thing left for you to do, and that is to cut corners here and there on your perfect bathroom design. It might become slightly imperfect but at least you will still have nearly all of your bathroom remodeling ideas from your original design.

Sometimes, you might find that you have to sacrifice some great bathroom remodeling ideas for the sake of practicality, but don’t worry about that, it can also be fitted into your bathroom design without too much of a problem. And most likely you will not even notice that much of a difference, unless of course you wanted to move the bathtub right across to the other side of the bathroom, but can’t for logistical reasons.

In which case the whole of your bathroom remodeling ideas might need to be revised. That said however, there’s really not too much that can actually go that wrong if you stick to a fairly simple bathroom design. One that’s easy to implement and is also easy on the pocket. Something else that you might want to think about is easy maintenance.

Even a huge bathroom should be easily maintainable. This need not be anything elaborate and can even be something as simple as getting a small bathroom caddy on which you can put a number of your necessary items like soap, shampoo, brush etc..

For sure, you could always go to the other extreme by removing all your old junk and swapping them with state-of-the-art, easy to clean gadgets instead.

The bathroom remodelling ideas are yours and it all depends on what sort of bathroom remodelling ideas you released within yourself when you first started your quest for the perfect bathroom design.

But remember that once you have started redecorating it is hard to stop. So, weigh up all your options first and then implement bathroom remodeling ideas in a way that will bring you closest to fulfilling those bathroom remodeling ideas you have for the perfect bathroom design.

Great Country Decorating Ideas

July 22nd, 2010 Marion Jones No comments

For those of us who live in the country decorating ideas are not difficult to come by. Personally speaking, I think that a lot of my inspiration comes from the environment around me. When I say that, I don’t mean to say that I take the most obvious aspects of the country around me, only that if you look carefully enough you’ll always find a subtle blend of country decorating ideas that you will be able to incorporate into your own stylish home decor.

Doing your home up with country decorating ideas is all very well and good but if you don’t make it blend in naturally with its environment your house will just become an eyesore like an invader upon the glory of nature. Surely, you have looked at a house set in the country and thought to yourself: how pretty and peaceful it was, and how much you’d really like to live there?

Haven’t you ever asked yourself why this should be so? Undoubtedly, it was for the house’s simplicity and elegance, along with the fact that it melded in so well with its surroundings. If you live in the country, without doubt you’re unaware of what I’m prattling on about and you are asking yourself why I mention it.

Maybe you’ve been living in the country all of your life and you really can’t understand what’s so special about the old country decorating ideas and houses that blend in with nature. After all, a country house is much like any other house that you’d find anywhere else. Or so you might think.

Well, I think you’d be wrong on that score! Country houses are a sight for sore eyes for those people who have been living in a concrete hell. So, if you’re fortunate enough to live in the country enjoy the fact.

When you live in the country decorating ideas ought to be coming into your head every moment of the day and with only a little forethought, you can make your normal country home into a very cozy country residence.

The only negative aspect I’ve noticed with this so far is the amount of inspiration I get from my environment. That might not sound like a drawback, but trust me, there’s not much worse than having country decorating ideas pouring into your mind with almost no pause and not being able to implement them all.

However, when this flow starts to happen, I just sit back and let it overwhelm me. I’ve always found that there is no use fighting against the inevitable, although a little dreaming never hurt anyone. If the ideas I’ve had are really good and grab my attention, I take down detailed notes about what I’ve dreamed up.

So, no matter whether you want to alter your home into a country residence, or whether you want to redecorate the house you already have with country decorating ideas, they should be easy to come across and just as easy to put into place. A country home is just the place to be to rest and relax from your hectic working life.

Ideas For Painting Walls

June 12th, 2010 Michael James No comments

Here you are then, standing in your new house! Its a bit of a mess though since the vendor was in a hurry to sell and had been in the middle of redecorating. Still, you don’t really mind that though, since it gives you the perfect chance to do your new house up exactly the way you want it.

However, now you need to decide where everything goes and what colours will suit which rooms, but you don’t have any wall painting ideas.

So, you eagerly sort out your new keys and wander through your new house. The minute you step in through a door ideas hit you. That huge urn you bought a year ago would look fantastic in the corner, and you’re pretty sure that your existing sofa set will fit in this other room. And you know the antique mirror table would look stunning in the hallway. The only thing you really get hung up on though are wall painting ideas.

You certainly don’t want to simply dab on a few coats of neutral coloured paint and have done with it. What you want is a masterpiece! Something that you can look at with pride every time you see it and, naturally, you want to be able to keep looking at it with pleasure for quite some time to come as well, so it shouldn’t be too severe.

But where can you get some decent wall painting ideas from, and how can you go about getting the wall painting done? There are a few ways that you could go about it. The easiest being if you have an artistic streak in you, then you could always get your wall painting ideas out of your head, so to speak and paint the walls as you like. Unfortunately, most of us aren’t very artistic and we are hesitant to pick up a brush or roller and apply the first coat of paint without any guidance. In this scenario then, you will need some help.

You could begin by hiring a professional decorator to help you decide what would look good or you could sit down and watch some DIY programs on the TV, where they show some pretty good ideas on what to do when decorating a house and will even give you some great wall painting ideas.

If neither of these options is suitable for you, you might just try going down to your local DIY store with fabric swatches and colour sheets of your most prominent pieces of furniture and seek their help on stylish wall decorating ideas.

You may come up with a hodge-podge of wall painting ideas with this last suggestion, but I found that it was the one that worked best for me and now I’m very proud of my ‘personalized’ house, because it reflects who I am just perfectly.

How To Decorate Children’s Rooms

June 2nd, 2010 Gail Jones No comments

If you’re unhappy with the way your home looks, the best thing you can do is redecorate it. Not necessarily all at once of course, as this will lead to problem upon problem and is sure to bring you stress when you really don’t need it. However if you start one room at a time, your redecorating project will become that much easier and more manageable.

The next step is to figure out which room you want to decorated first. It’s not always an easy choice to make, but it must be done nevertheless. How about starting by decorating the kids’ rooms first as this will lead to a general mood of satisfaction amongst them and can help you in the long run too.

Decorating kids rooms can be an enjoyable way to pass your time and also affords you the opportunity to bond with your kids too. I can’t think of a better way to get close to your children than by getting down to their level and talking about the things that interest them. Decorating their rooms might be the perfect way to do that.

But where do you begin? If you have more than one child you need to be careful whose room you’re going to decorate first, as things can get fraught. Decorating kids rooms can be fraught with tension if you don’t handle it properly, so I’ve found that the best way to handle this is to flip a coin in the air and have the kids call heads or tails.

This method might not work if you’ve got more than two kids or more than two rooms to decorate, in which case I’d suggest you just get on with it and begin all the decorating at once instead of tackling it room by room.

However, at least you’re not redecorating the whole house in one go and this way you encourage a happier mood amongst the kids with no-one thinking that they have been done down by getting their room decorated last. What tends to happen though when the you’re decorating the rooms with the children’s help is that more material gets splashed everywhere than where it should be. But then that was part of the reason you decided to begin decorating the kids rooms and perhaps even their play areas first, wasn’t it.

You’ll be much happier for at least starting on your decorating project and your kids will be happier for having their rooms redecorated too, not to mention the sheer fun you’ll be having while you’re busy doing all this. This isn’t of course to say, that decorating kids rooms isn’t hassle or stress free.

On the contrary, you’ll probably get a shedload more stress before you’ve finished, but at least you’ll have had the satisfaction of getting closer to your children and seeing their rooms tidy for at least one day before they move back into them again.

Do you find yourself more satisfied and fulfilled when you’re doing this than when you’re doing any other kind of job? Then perhaps you might want to look into a career change such as going for interior design jobs.

If you’re stuck in a rut of a job and want to go for something completely different, then this might be just what you’re looking for. Working in interior design jobs is an enjoyable and fruitful way for you to spend your working life and if you play your cards right, then there will be quite a lot of benefit to you.

Before you go off and hand in your notice to your present employer however, I’d advise you to consider it very carefully. Remember that, although the market for interior design jobs is larger now than ever before, most interior design jobs are for the self-employed and so you will have to tender for each job, so you might not actually win any jobs when you first start.

Therefore, you should first make absolutely sure that interior designing is really for you. And if it is, then make sure that you have saved enough capital for you to be able to live comfortably until your new career takes off.

If this doesn’t sound quite as appealing to you now as it did, you could always stay in your old job and continue with any interior design jobs that you might get at the same time until you feel comfortable enough to make a choice between the two. It’s probably a safe bet to assume that by that time, you would have made up your mind whether you wanted to continue looking for interior design jobs or not.

If you want, you also have the option of attending an interior design college or taking some interior design courses to further your interior design knowledge. This is also a good way for you to test the water before you get in too deep. An added bonus with either of these options is that they can be accomplished with ease and shouldn’t present you with any problems.

Taking any of these courses will only enhance your natural abilities and bring to the fore any talent you have in the field of interior designing. This in turn makes it easier for you to go in for more interior design jobs by giving you a boost up the ladder so you’re more prepared to face whatever comes your way.

The hardest part will be taking that all important first step of coming out your nice safe job to go out into the unknown world of bidding for interior design jobs. However, for the person who’s got the interior design bug, there’s no better way to satisfy their interest than by going for interior design jobs. Ideas For Painting Indoors

April 18th, 2010 Michael James No comments

Redecorating or renovating your house is not easy and it just gets especially harder and more tedious when you need to paint it as well. Slapping on one coat of paint after another can be draining if you’re doing it on your own and still have the whole house to think about.

And let’s not even start talking about those ceilings! But even though you may stick to the same old fashioned exterior paint job, it doesn’t have to be the same for the interior – you could always try some outlandish but wonderful interior painting ideas. If nothing else you’ll be guaranteeing a reaction from all those who enter your home.

By reducing the exterior painting plans to the bare minimum, you can spend more time and more creativity to the inside. You can allow your imagination run riot with all those interior painting ideas you always wanted to implement but never got around to. And, as they say, there’s no time like the present, and be honest, when are you going to get around to painting your house again?

However, don’t be alarmed! When I’m talking about flamboyant interior painting ideas, I’m not saying that you should go with something that resembles modern art paintings, no, I’m talking about something more along the lines of a paint job that reflects your personality.

Your interior painting ideas do not need to be anything more than a splash of vibrant colour on one wall, with by soothing colours on the other walls. This works very well in any house and the vibrant colour that you choose can be either soothing or primal, depending on what you want to show about yourself. You could, of course, always go to extremes and emulsion all the walls a bright vibrant shade or even mix and match different colours on different walls.

If you’re doing this, then you may want to think about the effect you’ll create and whether you can actually live with the colour scheme for very long. Crazy and inspired interior painting ideas are all very well and good, but you should always take into account whether you’re going to be able to stand the sight of your newly panted walls or not after a month or so. If you are going to have to repaint everything again, it sort of defeats the purpose.

This doesn’t mean that you should restrain your creativity or stifle your interior painting ideas, all it means is that some of the bolder ideas you have, should perhaps be the subject of a small test-run somewhere else.

Don’t think of painting your house as a chore. If you really want to, you can always think of yourself as Michelangelo or Da Vinci or any one of those great artists and paint a stunning picture on your walls. The only requirement is that you turn your great interior painting ideas into reality and that you have fun while you’re at it.

Kitchen Decorating Ideas

April 16th, 2010 Roderic Jones No comments

It’s a Sunday morning and you’re sitting there waiting for your coffee machine to stop its cycle, so you can have that vital early morning cup of coffee. Idly, you look about your kitchen and notice a spot of paint missing from the corner of the door. It had happened years ago but you never really took any notice of it before now.

Your gaze continues to wander and your eye spots a patch of mildew growing just under the sink, then you notice the ugly brown colour that your ceiling has turned just above where the cooker stands.

The paint is slightly off colour, and the only papered wall is beginning to look outdated and faded. You take a strengthening sip of your now-ready coffee and decide that some kitchen decorating is called for.

How do you go about it though? And how soon can you get started? Now that you’ve finally noticed all the little bits and pieces of decay that you were quite successfully ignoring up until that moment, you can’t wait to get started on your little kitchen decorating project.

However, this is decision time. Just how small do you mean to keep your kitchen decorating project? Can you get away with just sloshing a fresh coat of paint on everything or will you need to go to the trouble of removing the wallpaper off the wall, and finding out what had caused that mildew stain.

Sure enough, it all depends on you and your budget, but if you can spare the time, energy and money, you’ll probably do better, in the long run. to get rid of all your kitchen decorating problems at once. That would include stripping the wallpaper, replacing any carpeting or rugs that you might have, and perhaps even sanding down your wooden floors if you have those. If you’re going to do a complete job of kitchen decorating however then you’ll also need that all important final coat of fresh paint to smarten up your kitchen.

You may also want to think about replacing those old lace curtains as they’re also probably looking distinctly old by now. So, go on and splash out on your kitchen decorating project and replace the curtains and while you’re about it, you might want to think of buying a new stack of tea towels as well. It doesn’t hurt to go the whole hog when you can.

And when you’re finally finished, you will be able to sit back and enjoy your new kitchen and remember that weekend morning that started it all off. You’ll have no regrets whatsoever, since your kitchen decorating project has landed you with a far better kitchen than you had ever expected.

A feeling of content engulfs you as you lift your new coffee mug to your lips. Life just doesn’t get any better than when you’re enjoying the fruits of your effort.

Decorating Ideas for the Interior

April 14th, 2010 Marion Jones No comments

The bleak winter is getting to you and you’re pfaffing around trying to decide what to do with yourself. You’re snowbound and the only thing that you can think of doing is sitting in front of your fire, drinking hot chocolate and staring broodingly out of the window. The only thing with that is that you’ve already been doing just that for days now and you’ve have had enough of fires, hot chocolate and mooching.

Now you’re itching to do something different, so, you turn to the only comfort you have and switch on the TV. You’re instantly captivated by one of those numerous shows about how you can jazz up your home. You find yourself flooded with decorating ideas: ideas on both interior decor and exterior decor.

So, you finally find yourself entranced by a program that you would have dismissed earlier and jump out of your chair to get a pen and notebook to note down all those fantastic ideas. Before long, you’ve run out of room in your notebook and have to leave your comfortable chair to go get another one.

And before you get back to your armchair, you’ve made a quick tour around the house and have spotted many of the things that you’ve spent a lifetime trying to avoid – the cracks in the bedroom walls, the growing patch of mildew in the bathroom, the paint chipping off many of the skirtings.

The list is very long and could easily fill several notepads. Therefore, you sit down, and alongside your notes on various decorating ideas on interior design and general redecorating, you studiously note down all the little things that need repairing, replacing or refitting.

The list naturally spans more than even your second notebook can hold but you decide to stop there, because it’s more than your arm can take to continue writing, besides you already have all the pertinent facts at your fingertips, so now you set about sorting them out into directions that you can easily follow.

No easy task that, when your decorating ideas, interior designs and room-by-room list of flaws is all jumbled up into one horrible pile. You then turn to the tried and true, age-old method of sitting on the floor and surrounding yourself with your notes in an attempt at finding some order.

When you eventually reach that sublime state of order, you lay back with a tired but satisfied smile on your face. The knowledge that you’ll now have enough decorating ideas and interior design plans and less spare time on your hands during those long hard months of winter, sends a gush of contentment running right through you. After all, there’s nothing like a job well done and the knowledge that next spring, your home is going to look nothing like its former shabby self.

South-Western Home Decor

April 13th, 2010 Gail Jones No comments

So what exactly is southwestern home decor and how can you introduce it into your own home? Well, to start with southwestern home decor reflects the southwest and all its best aspects. Southwestern home decor means colourful throw rugs, gorgeous wall hangings, and if you search hard enough, you will even find useful kitchen accessories as well.

If you’re thinking about bringing southwestern home decor into your home, first of all, you need to check whether it would fit in with your existing decor or whether it would clash horribly. Almost all southwestern home decor has bright, eye catching colours, as well as stunning designs and motifs.

So, if your existing furniture would clash with any of these beautiful pieces, you can do one of two things. First up, you could always just throw out every single piece of unwanted furniture that you have and replace them with gorgeous pieces of southwestern home decor. Or you could just buy one or two pieces of the southwestern home decor range and match them carefully with your existing knick-knacks.

Personally speaking, I would rather replace everything I have since there’s some wear, but in reality that’s just not possible. For one thing it would just be way over my budget, and for another I would rather not have to listen to a lecture from my mother about extravagance. I’ve discovered that you can get away from from your friends but not from your mother!

Besides, I’m also a little happy that I didn’t give into my initial impulse and renovate everything in the southwestern home decor style. Sure, it does look great, but sometimes I also like the peace and quiet that some of my other pieces of furniture bring to in me. Therefore, I have now come up with the perfect solution and have instead resorted to purchasing one-off pieces that catch my attention and sprinkling my home with those instead.

And I have to admit that its made quite a difference in the appearance of my entire home. Lush and rich pieces of the more traditional furniture now sit quite comfortably with the more flamboyant and stunning designs of my southwestern home decor. I’ve even got hold of a great rug for my bathroom floor and a beautiful set of hand towels. My kitchen has a new set of southwestern motifs, and my foyer has the most wonderful lampshade and statuette in prominent view.

Although all of this sounds a bit much, I’ve found that this is the best way to bring the glories of southwestern home decor into my life, without going all out and renewing my entire house with southwestern decor and motifs.

After all, you just want to bring a splash of southwestern decor to your home, not the whole thing. Oh, and did I forget to mention the gorgeous tapestry I bought the other day? It’s just perfect.
